Welcome to Aussie Dreaming - a company dedicated to the development and understanding of Australia’s indigenous culture.

Traditional Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander culture is fascinating, steeped in folk lore, mythical beliefs and rituals handed down from the ‘Dreamtime’.

As members of a very diverse and multicultural society, we have much to learn from the indigenous peoples of Australia: People whose lives have been in tune with the vast and arid land in which they have lived: People who nurtured the land and valued its many natural resources: People who lived off the land for thousands of years, yet left very few scars on the landscape as witness to their continued habitation.

Unfortunately, very little of Australia’s indigenous culture has ever been recorded in writing. In the past 200 years of European occupation of a land that is today known as Australia, much of the indigenous culture and knowledge has been lost in the headlong rush to assimilate Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people into our Western society.

Through this web site, and books published by Aussie Dreaming, we hope to capture and convey as much information about Australia’s indigenous culture as is possible.

Our first publication, ‘Bush Tucker’ is a children’s activity book, containing learning activities that will amuse and educate young children. Other books of interest to older children, teenagers and adults are planned for the future.
